Mel’s Bucket List

August 2019- Buckets Galore

August is always a time of renewal for me. Being trained as a teacher, August was always the point when I would be solidifying my plans into place. The smell of school supplies put me over the moon. Who doesn’t love freshly sharpened Ticonderoga pencils (no, I’m not a paid endorser). When it comes to a mid-year rejuvenation, August is certainly it.

For this month, my bucket is overflowing. In fact, I have multiple ones.

My featured read this month is The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I watched the movie, and to be honest, I really am not great at watching movies in general. I have a hard time focusing on the screen. However, I glimpsed enough of the movie to warrant me trying to tackle this. You can find a copy available in the shop section of this website.

Musically, my bucket is brimming as well. I run a group on Facebook called The Indie Coffeehouse-Promote your work, connect, and grow! I think I maybe was a bit excited to see all of the new and old talent that is really so accessible now. You can find that facebook group here.

I’ve connected with so many Indie artists, authors, filmmakers, and musicians. This week’s spotlight is on the band, Grey Goes Black. You can find the blog post here.

I’ve also been delving into learning more about jazz and international artists. My bucket list has always been to learn as much as I can and connect with as many people as I can. This month has surely given me a great start in that direction.

In terms of my own writing, I’m attempting to publish a mystery that I’ve written by the time winter hits. There’s always so much to do!

As the month progresses, I’m looking forward to accomplishing the tasks on my bucket list, and creating a new list as the summer ends and September begins. What’s on your bucket list?
